Is Sugar Toxic?

Some of us have known for years that sugar can feed cancer. It is a shame that someone diagnosed with the Big C isn't given this information.

Muscle Mass helps control your blood sugar level. What are you doing to keep/add to your muscle mass?

What makes me different than most Personal Trainers?

My Business Policies:

You never pay in advance for training sessions.

You never have to sign any contract for a minimum number of training sessions.

This means I take the financial risk when we begin working together, not the client.

My Training Philosophy:

I consider myself more of a Body Mechanic. What does this mean? I focus on teaching you how to get your body functioning at the highest level that it is capable of by rebuilding what needs to be fixed.

I teach you how to treat your body as a whole unit. You learn how to use your body to develop your strength, mobility and balance levels. An exercise program should focus on training your nervous system. That is what tells your muscles, bones and joints what to do. (This is known as using proper Body-Mechanics and developing Kinesthetic Awareness.)

When beginning an exercise program:

The intensity should be very low until you have mastered how your body moves. Younger people (under 30 years of age) can get away with pushing themselves too soon sometimes. Older adults should never push themselves too hard when learning a new exercise. If you are so sore that you can barely move, you have worked too hard. Any trainer can push you harder. Only great trainers can train you smarter.

I only increase the intensity when you are physically and mentally ready for it. Only after that should the intensity increase. Over time you will work harder that you ever thought you could. (But only when you are ready for that.)

Who I love to work with:

A client recovering from a medical condition:

One of my passions is getting clients stronger after a medical condition has weakened them. One example of this is clients who have had cancer. I love helping clients rebuild their bodies after chemo and/or radiation has made them weak.

Older Adults:

I have worked with clients up to 95 years of age. Another one of my passions is helping people reverse many of the effects of the aging process. I can't make you younger. I can make you the strongest you can be for your age.

Below are clients performing two of my favorite exercsies.

Step-ups and Squats are two of my favorite exercises because they develop strength, balance and mobility.

Keith has been the ongoing personal trainer of my parents for many years. He is amazing with older individuals, understanding both their needs and how to motivate them to improve their physical health. In addition, he is a deeply caring individual who goes above and beyond the duties of a personal trainer to assist his clients however he can. We are grateful for Keith.

    Steps to avoid Sports Injuries

1. Warm Up Properly. This means using a Dynamic Warm-up (before stretching) for your sport you are playing.

2. Build the type of strength used in your sport and positions on the field or court. Use Body Weight before adding external resistance. Take into account your experience and knowledge when lifting.

3. Learn how to control the way your body moves/lands while jumping.  Most acute injuries occur while landing.

4. Know what imbalances are most likely to develop in your sport and train to minimize them. The decreases the chance of developing overuse injuries.

When you Train Smarter, Not Harder,

Your chances of injury are minimized.
